Conclusion For Submission
Assignment 01
Name: Nur Rahmatul Solehah binti Rahmat
ID: 1102702492
Title: How Far Can You Take?
Artist Statement:
Elements are the basic components of chemical element. They are pure chemical substances that consist of one type of atoms. It can be divided into metal, metalloids and non-metals. Each element has been experimented on its boiling or melting point. It can be concluded that each element has certain resistant towards heat.
Human are made up of elements. The question is how is our resistant to obstacles that come blazing in our life?
Concept Board:
Installation Set Up:
There are old newspaper to cover the table, a set of elements liquid, instruction paper, concept board (as guide), straws, a box of tissue, A3 drawing papers and A4 papers (for test drop). All items are labeled which make this installation independent.
This way, audience will be able to perform interactivity multiple times without my presence.
Attempts by audiences.
Some artworks by audience:
Work in Progress:
For the liquid elements,
How do i make this?
Clean these bottles of white glue.
Mix the glue and poster colour and water accordingly to desire concentration.
Before labeling i put an effort into testing the liquid.
Those testing papers will be submitted separately.
And then i created one piece of work to be the background of label and also instruction paper. It is as follow:-

It is done after so a few tries.
At first the difference of Hydrogen with Nitrogen and Oxygen are further than Carbon with Nitrogen and Oxygen. Which is not true. Therefore, the liquids are altered to achieve more true data.
The dispersion patterns show the weakness in the element. Therefore, the more dispersion, the lower the boiling point of that element.
The streak length shows that the longer the streak, the easier for us to disturb the bond in that element. Hence, the lower its boiling is.
To make it easier:
More dispersion = Weaker bonds = Lower boiling point
Longer streak = Weaker bonds = Lower boiling point

Nitrogen (Yellow)
Oxygen (Blue)

How to visualise the data?
It is decided that installation will be used.
On top of a table will be set of
liquid colours (mixed ingredients of water colour), straws and A3 drawing papers.
Besides them are the instruction and also title banner.
Each liquid colours are in the bottles paste with the data and information.
Audience will
be instructed to do their own artwork by dropping the liquid colour in the same
amount of one drop onto paper (that is ensured to be parallel to the ground). Then,
they can blow liquid colour using straw. Each liquid colour will be of
different concentration. These differences of concentration will be the control
environment. Therefore, the streaks length can be in controlled. Short streaks
means low boiling point and long streaks means high boiling points. They are
allowed to bring back their own arts. Each paper will be paste with the data
and information.
More on papers. ;)

Week 4
Decision making and research on the decision!
What is element?
Element is a pure substance consisting one type of atom. Some of these chemical elements are not visible to human eyes. They are divided into metals and non-metals.
What data is chosen for the assignment?
Non-metals which divided into other non-metals, noble gases and halogens.
These other non-metals are HYDROGEN, CARBON, NITROGEN and, OXYGEN.
So i googled up the boiling point for each of these non-metals.
Boiling point:-
Why do i choose to do periodic table of element?
Because everything in this world is made up elements.
Why those data are chosen as my assignment?
It is the most common to me and the people so the time to explain what kind of elements they are is not raised by people. Therefore the interaction can be done easier without much doubt.
How to visualise?
I was thinking of using colors and lines.
I will be using BASIC COLOURS in art studies since elements are the basic components. Those colours are RED, BLUE, YELLOW and BLACK. Why these colours? These colours made up to many other colours. So it is perfect metaphor.
It will be shown on paper. ART on A3 paper!
Carbon (Black)
Nitrogen (Yellow)
Oxygen (Blue)
Hydrogern (Red)
Why the colours are assigned this way?
Following the rainbow arrangement, Red will be first then Yellow then Blue. Black is not existed in rainbow colour. Why? Why rainbow arrangement? Because according to which colour to appear upon our eyes, it is first Red, then Yellow, then Blue and the last will be Black. So it is according to the Boiling Points of each elements. It will be Hydrogen first, then Nitrogen, then Oxygen and then Black.
